Whilst enjoying the bitter walk to school on friday morning, with a dripping nose, watering eyes and the smallest amount of my voice remaining, a very disturbing image there, I thought that it may be useful for some of you if I shared my tips to fight the flu, oh how unexpectedly poetic that sounded..
Being full of a cold, not only means endless piles of tissues, the strong scent of Albas Oil and numerous packets of throat sweets, I for one, are often grumpy and ready to give up on something before it’s even started. Therefore, to I’m here to give you some motivation, although this should be amusing as I am not one to talk about motivation, to help you enjoy having a cold! yes, it can be done..
We’re all beauty enthusiasts here right? whether you are or not, there is certainly nothing like the perfect pamper. I tend to get the sniffles when it’t chilly outside, therefore my lips get chapped, so make sure to ‘gloss and go’ as to speak, but obviously with lip balm.
Here are a small selection of my favourite lip balms. The Body Shop ‘Born Lippy’ and Vaseline ‘Rosy Lips’ both give a gorgeous tint to the lips, however the Body Shop one tastes extra yummy! Speaking of yummy tasting things, the Nivea Lip Butters and EOS Lip Balms taste good enough to eat, as well as being amazing at hydrating the lips of course!
Along the same subject as dry skin, my skin isn’t often dry, however once Jack Frost comes along, I often get dry patches around my eyes, which is so unusual and annoying, but also in between my eyebrows, does that area have a name?..
Therefore I thought I’d share some of the moisturisers I’ve been switching around recently to help reduce the dryness! 2 of which, are face moisturisers, and 2 are antiseptic creams (which work a treat on spots too!!) the purple one is by Clean and Clear (it seems to have been cut off, whoops)
As it’s still absolutely freezing here in England, and we have storms/bad weather around the corner *prays for snow* having a bath or a hot shower has to be the most enjoyable and relaxing things ever. Obviously, you can’t use a bath bomb in the shower *laughs way too much..* but here are a few of the ones I have hanging around at the moment, making my bathroom smell lush! see what I did there?;)
From left to right:
Bombardino Bath Ballastic (Lush say; a bath of creamy Alpine indulgence. With skin-softening cocoa butter and uplifting Sicilian lemon oil.) personally I think it smells of spices, which is so divine and my favourite kind of scent!
Cleopatra’s Desire Bath Blaster: (Bomb Cosmetics say; a real Roman treat! A complex blend of natural aromas including Chamomile, Frankincense combined with soft florals.) sounds a little odd, however it’s such a relaxing scent!
Shoot for the Stars Bath Bomb: (Lush say; The same comforting honey-toffee fragrance as our Honey I Washed the Kids soap. Creating a magnificent bath with swirling lustres and beautiful colours.)
Think Pink Bath Bomb: (Lush say; Its sweet smell comes from vanilla absolute, while tonka adds a caramel undertone. Neroli gives it a sunny citrus top note, while lavender clears your mind and makes you feel that life is sweet.)
After I have a bath, the pampering and ‘restoring my happiness‘ is not complete yet. I love applying a generous layer of body butter to my body and refreshing my skin with a face mask (which I sometimes do in the bath)
After this (I’m beginning to think this is more like a night time routine..hmm, I might do one in the future actually?..) I love to curl into bed with a movie, a book or just on twitter listening to music.

Favourite ‘Relaxing’ Movies:
this all depends on your taste, I’ve been loving dramas/romantics at the moment, which I don’t recommend when you’re already in ‘feeling low’ kind of mood..
The Spectacular Now
The Lucky One
Death and Life of Charlie St Cloud
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
The Worlds End
and don’t even get me started on my favourite books..
Along side letting my mind go blank and entering a magical fantasy or a dramatic romance, I love to read others blogs, I scroll through my twitter timeline or bloglovin’ and stumble across some wonderful posts, however my absolute favourites are:
But most of all, don’t forget that having a cold can sometimes be a good thing! ‘why?’ you might be asking? Firstly, imagine laying there in bed, in a cocoon of a duvet, with a movie on, hot chocolate, a candle, fairy lights..and best of all, your parents can slave after you! (this is never really the case for me..but we can all dream..)
I’m slowly recovering from my cold, however after last nights storm, I’m sat here with no hot water or heating, so that’s minimised my chances ever so slightly..
I hope you’re all well, and have had a lovely weekend!
Much Love, Harriet x

“We’re all human, aren’t we? Every human life is worth the same, and worth saving.” - Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling .. a little dramatic compared to a cold, but Rowling speaks some truth..
